Temasek Primary School started operating in its current premises at Bedok South Avenue 3 in December 2000. The school was awarded Singapore Quality Class by SPRING Singapore in June 2004 for its organizational excellence.
Temasek Primary School is a popular school, known for its high academic standards, challenging programmes and commendable achievements. The school has consistently attained good PSLE results, with close to 80% of its pupils in the mainstream qualifying for Special/Express streams. The quality passes for English Language, Mathematics, Science, Malay and Tamil Language have been above the national average for the past years. In its short 25 years of history, Temasek Primary School has produced 9 Prime Minister’s Book Prize Winners and 1 top PSLE pupil (1999 PSLE).
In the non-academic areas, the school has won the Gold Award for TAF since 1996 and the Sustained Achievement Award for Physical Fitness since 1999. Our Chinese and Indian Cultural Dance Groups were awarded the Gold Awards and the Malay Cultural Dance, the Choir and the Band the Silver Awards at the 2004 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for dances, choir and band. The pupils have also been awarded the Citi-ideas In Action Grants (2003, 2004 & 2005) for the development of innovative Chinese Idioms Games, Hydro-air Vegetable Growing Kits and CornHarmony.
The school has been successful in engaging parents and the community in the school activities since 1999. Together with Bethesda Care and Counselling Services Centre and Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, the school conducts family education workshops and courses for parents and teachers and life skills development workshops for the pupils. Character education and service learning are also emphasized in our school’s mission to provide the pupils with a holistic education.
Temasek Primary aspires to be the best learning campus in the East and has named itself The Learning Campus where learning is the core business. In the last few years, the introduction of innovative initiatives such as Genre-based approach to writing and reading for English, Temasek Magicland, Colours of Life, The Learning Tapestry, STAGE IT and SPACE have made learning more meaningful and engaging for our pupils. The Learning Tapestry, an innovative interdisciplinary programme has been successfully implemented since 2002 for all pupils. Since 2003 it has progressed from a thematic approach in 2002 to problem-based approach where teachers act as facilitators and pupils as active learners.
Our success in both academic achievements and co-curricular activities has been attributed to the concerted effort put in by our pupils and teachers with strong support given by our parents and the community.
