Principal's Message
I recall vividly and fondly how, in 1982, I donned the blue pinafore and white blouse of the school uniform and strode into Raffles Girls’ School, starry-eyed. I had heard rave reviews of the school and its colourful school life, and was most excited to embark on the reputable Rafflesian journey. The next four years proved to be the most enriching and fulfilling experience for me. Surrounded by capable and creative friends and supported by knowledgeable and encouraging teachers, I was constantly challenged to better myself, in my studies and as a person. My friends and I all emerged grateful for that immersive and memorable experience which bonded us well as a Rafflesian family forever.
Some thirty years on, RGS has continued to provide top-quality education for the high-ability girls of Singapore, and more. In recent years, it has collaborated with Raffles Institution to design and implement the distinctive Raffles Programme – one that seeks to develop the Person, Thinker, Leader and Pioneer in every girl. Through an enriched curriculum that offers both breadth and depth, and a stimulating environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity and team work, our girls are caringly nurtured into women of character, scholarship and leadership, with a strong sense of contributing back to society and the nation.
All these accomplishments would not have been possible without the visionary leadership of past principals and the unwavering efforts of many generations of staff, students, alumni and parents. Anchored on the core values of RGS -- People-centred, Principled, Passionate and Professional – the RGS community has created a premier girls’ school that is known for its pioneering spirit, excellent curriculum, and a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
The next chapter of RGS will be an exciting and defining phase for the school, as we seek to develop a new and integrated campus at the Braddell-Westlake site, in order to cater to the wide range of programmes in the school and with the community. With your generous support, we hope that we will be able to create a vibrant environment and a forward-looking school – the cradle where Singapore’s future female leaders are nurtured, and a place where all our girls can look back on with wonderful memories and immense pride. The same manner that my friends and I do now, having passed through this way some twenty years ago.
May we work together to nurture daughters of a better age.
